Planned Giving

Slider

Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee has counted on the financial support of our generous donors since we first opened our doors in 1972. With our mission to assist individuals to live independently by providing nutrition and caring, supportive services at the forefront of our daily work, thousands upon thousands of people have received help and hope when they needed it most.

As we look to the future, we continue to count on the philanthropic support of our community to meet the ever-growing needs in our community. Planned Giving is a way to leave a legacy to benefit others.

Memorial Tribute

Honor a loved one with a very special memorial or tribute gift to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee. Naming opportunities still exist for substantial gifts. Cards of acknowledgement will be mailed upon request to the honoree or to their family.

Gifts of Stock

If you own stock, it is often more tax-wise to contribute stock than cash. This is because a gift of appreciated stock generally offers a two-fold tax savings. First, you avoid paying any capital gains tax on the increase in value of the stock. Second, you receive an income tax deduction for the full fair market value of the stock at the time of the gift.

Gifts of Real Estate

Gifts of appreciated real estate can be ideal gifts, and can be made in several different ways to maximize the tax benefits to you, and maximize the value of the gift to Meals on Wheels PLUS of Manatee.

Gifts of Property

Artwork, furniture, clothing, jewelry, and automobiles can be given, with varying tax consequences depending upon the type of property.

Gifts of Life Insurance

A gift of life insurance can provide a significant charitable deduction. You could purchase a new policy or donate a policy that you currently own but no longer need. To receive a deduction, designate us as both the owner and beneficiary of the life insurance policy.

beneficiary

Meals on Wheels can be named as beneficiary in your will in an outright gift, as either a designated dollar amount or percentage of your estate. We could also be named as a remainder beneficiary to
receive funds only after specific sums have been paid to individual beneficiaries. You can easily attach an amendment to your will then your will, will not have to be redrafted.

Legacy Society

To recognize the generosity of endowment donors in their lifetime, Meals on Wheels PLUS has established the Legacy Society. By notifying us that your estate includes a gift to us, you will be thanked and recognized now.

Today for Tomorrow

Financial planners agree it is the failure to take action, not the absence of opportunity, that is the major threat to achieving financial objectives. It takes a lifetime to build an estate. Meals on Wheels PLUS believes it’s wise to plan for today so that your estate may be preserved for tomorrow. Through careful estate planning, you help secure the future—for yourself, for your family and heirs, and for programs in which you believe.
