DESCRIPTION:With the pandemic impacting every member of every family, we initiated a new program called Food4Families in 2020 in partnership with the School District of Manatee. Helping to meet the critical need to provide food for families in Manatee County, the program provided over 780,000 meals to county residents in 2020. We are pleased to continue this program in 2021.\nEach month, our staff creates a menu of meals for Food4Families. We utilize the monetary donations we receive from generous community members like you, and leverage our wholesale buying power to purchase food needed to make the meals on the menu. Volunteers then help to sort the food into bags for the weekly Food4Families distributions where families drive-thru, pop their trunks, and receive non-perishable food items, fresh produce, fresh meat, and snacks that will sustain them through the week. At the drive-thru distributions, families receive breakfast, lunch, and dinner to last a family of five two or more days.\nThe food costs for each distribution range from $12,500 to $50,000.
